Study: The Antichrist (A)
Purpose: To identify the person and principle of antichrist.
Center It: God is love. Jesus is Christ, and anyone who turns people from Jesus or attempts to occupy the place of Jesus is putting his or her self in the place or stead of Christ and is, by definition, antichrist. Jesus only is our guide, and anything and everything that deviates from Him and His truth is antichrist.
Dictionary Definition: Antichrist- (Christianity) the adversary of Christ (or Christianity) mentioned in the New Testament; the Antichrist will rule the world until overthrown by the Second Coming of Christ. [My complete agreement with this definition]
So just who or what is the “AntiChrist?” Is it a person? An organization? Is it a Spiritual entity, or a Religious entity, or both combined? Or is it a Religious Political coalition disguised as a Religious Denomination under the cloak of Christianity?
These are questions we need to ask ourselves when determining just who or what this Anti-Christ spoken of is about. The word is used only four (4) times in the New Testament in the following verses. NOTICE: it’s not found in the Revelation!
1Jn 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, [In Johns' day the antichrist was just beginning to "rise"] even now are there many antichrists; [Meaning "many" people who stood against the teachings of the Apostles.] whereby we know that it is the last time. [Or the "end of time"]
Just what was the apostle John saying in this verse, besides the warning of the antichrist? He was talking to the church here in this verse, who also heard that the antichrist already existed in his time, during his life in the first century A.D. and John called that time the “last time”, or what we would call the “end time.” John was telling us that after the death and resurrection of our Lord, followed by His ascension to the Father, we have been living in the “last time” of Earths history. It began at the going forth of the gospel and will continue until the Second coming of Jesus for the consummation of ALL things.
However John made a distinction here in this verse about the “antichrist.” Notice he said “shall come”, that’s in the futurist tense of Johns, then present sermon to the church. Here John was eluding to a future rise of “THE ANTICHRIST”, the one who exalts himself above God.
The clause in the verse that says, “even now there are many antichrist”, speaks only of those in Johns time who were both bucking the church, and persecuting the followers of Jesus. John simply termed them “antichrist” of against Christ. That’s what antichrist means: Against Christ! They were the followers of a mix of pagan rituals and Christianity newly forming during Johns life and ministry. A synonym of antichrist is “opponent” meaning: Someone who offers opposition. “adversary” same meaning. “Antagonist” same meaning, “Resister”, someone who systematically obstructs some action, that others want to take. All these definitions explain the “antichrist” of Johns’ time. That’s why he said “even now there are many antichrist”, but in his admonition in the verse he was pointing out ONE specific entity of “Anti-Christ”, the one coming in the future, afterwards, after the time of this sermon, at the “very END TIMES”, of Earths history, just before Jesus comes. 1Jn 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
[This would encompass several modern day religious denominations, a few would be Jehovah Witness, Islam, to name a few. Any liar who denies Jesus is the Son of God, or that He is the Anointed, Christ means Anointed. Anyone who does NOT believe that Jesus is “Very God” Himself equal with the Father, the very essence of God, John called those who do not believe this “antichrist and liars.”]
1Jn 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
NOTICE: Here John introduces us to another word in his admonition to the church. The word “spirit” of antichrist, implies the idea of intentionally existing for the purpose of “deception”, to deceive Gods people into “rebellion” against Him. This entity or individual would purposely set out to obstruct, oppose, and be the adversary of God Himself. John said that he was already working to that effect, and would continue to work to that end, until Jesus comes.
QUESTION? Who was the predominant world power during the first century, when John penned this verse of scripture?
ANSWER: It was the pagan Roman Empire, also known as Imperial ROME.
QUESTION? What is the religious church denomination found in ROME?

QUESTION: Did ROME acknowledge Jesus as the Christ?
ANSWER: NO! Roman soldiers were the instruments used by SATAN to crucify Jesus.
So would John possibly be eluding to Rome here as the, then current existent antichrist?
2Jn 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. [What John is saying here is that if you do NOT believe that Jesus is the incarnate Son of God, the Redeemer, come to Save the World, then you are antichrist and a deceiver.]
QUESTION: Did all those who shouted out “crucify him” before Pilate, and Pilate himself believe that Jesus was the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world?
ANSWER: NO! Therefore according to the apostle John they were deceivers and antichrist.
John knew ALL the above questions and their answers, that’s why he could make the statements that he did, plus it was the Holy Spirit working through John to make the statements, utilizing the word “Spirit” of antichrist.
Anyone who in their spirit, by their actions denies the work of Jesus, and lives for themselves can be classified as “antichrist.”
Mat 12:30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Jesus says here that if we as Christians, are not actively seeking out the lost souls around us, through the help of the Holy Spirit, bring them into a saving personal relationship with Himself, then we are “scattering” and actually working against Him, therefore we to an extent are antichrist, if we continue to ignore the lost around us, and still claim salvation for ourselves. We are in deception, self-presumption, and self-deceived, to think that we are just hunky dory, and NOT have any concern for those around us, then we are of the most miserable lot in life. QUESTION: ON the other hand, can a church its’ self be antichrist, because of what it teaches the people?
If the church denomination be what it may, teaches anything contrary to God word, in other words “untruths”, could it, itself be classified as “antichrist”, if its’ teachings oppose, Christ spoken word? Could the church in question teach “error”, simply by refusing to teach the bible as it is written?
ANSWER: YES it can, this was only one of the three major doctrinal controversies brought forth at the “Council of Trent” that was in session for 18 years between 1545 and 1563 which were:
Sola scriptura, Sola fide, Sola gratcia (The SCRIPTURE ALONE, through FAITH ALONE, by GRACE ALONE.
However there is “one” Christian denomination that fights these three proclamations hand and foot, tooth and nail, and is and was at the time of the Apostle John functioning as a church in ROME. It’s the Roman Catholic Church, and it was and is ANTICHRIST in its’ teachings.
QUESTION: In what church did the modern day “Protestant” churches sprang from? Or how did the protestant churches come into being? Were they not founded because Martin Luther who was instrumental in bringing about the “Reformation”, began to “PROTEST” the heretical teachings of the Catholic church? Martin Luther regardless to what some people might believe was NOT a Lutheran. He was a Catholic Monk or Augustinian friar. He knew too well the teaching of the Catholic church, and he did not agree.
ANSWER: The Holy Roman Catholic Church from which ALL the now known popular denominations sprang. And they brought some of the teachings of Rome with them into their respective new found denominations.
EXAMPLE: The state of those in the graveyards. What happens to the dead after they are placed in the grave, cremated, or whatever? What state of existence are they in?
The DEAD!
Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ecc 9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
One of Romes’ heretical teachings is the “Immortality of the Soul.” NOWHERE in the Bible is this doctrine taught, on the contrary the opposite is taught from Genesis to Revelation, nowhere is it taught that mankind has an immortal soul. But todays modern churches teach it religiously just as Rome taught it. Rome taught it in order to gain riches through monies paid to release loved one from purgatory.. They thought if the people could be just deceived into thinking that their loved ones that die, go into purgatory prior to Heaven, we could profit off their families by the sale of both indulgence for sin and payment for release from purgatory. So they taught that man has an immortal soul, which the Bible doesn’t teach. The scripture says “Only God is Immortal. Which makes complete sense when the following scriptures are read properly.
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
NOTICE: ONLY GOD has immortality, NOT the angels, nor any other created entity has “immortality” of itself, the immortal life is graciously “granted” by God to His creation according to His will for them. From Adam and Eve to present day, NO HUMAN ever born was born with an “immortal soul”, it was granted on condition to Adam and Eve, through eating from the “Tree of Life” in the midst of the garden, as long as they kept God as God, and placed no other before Him. However as the story goes Eve, being beguiled placed herself above God, and that’s what brought the end to their access to immortality.
As a matter of fact just what time both Adam and Eve were in the garden, and just what time they ate of the “Tree of Life”, we do NOT know, however that fruit was sufficient to allow Adam and Eves’ progeny to live into the hundreds of years of age, whereas today we die young, which was never Gods intended will for us, it was however SATANS.
When God said: Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely [Begin to] die. [That’s both physical death, and had not Jesus come it would have been spiritual death, or eternal death for humanity.]
But Satan said: Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
So God said that human life had the opportunity, IF obedient, to have access to the Tree of Life, and thus prolong life. God never created man to have in and of himself, life immortal. Had He done so there would have been NO reason for the Tree of Life to exist in the garden, nor the instructions given necessary.
That’s Satans’ implied lie above. NOT dying is the Satanic LIE and an implication and insinuation of living eternally.
This doctrine of the immortality of the soul comes straight from Satan himself, and is taught in almost every mainline protestant church today. It’s Roman heresy brought out of the reformation and taught by todays churches. Therefore every church teaching this can be classified according to the apostle John as a deceiver and an antichrist.
The second error in Christian doctrine that can be attributed to Rome is the doctrine that “Sunday” is the Lords day. The day we are to observe as holy, and the day to worship God.
QUESTION: What does Gods word teach concerning this false doctrine?
SUNDAY? NOT FOUND in any verse.
SABBATH: Found 137 times in 116 verses throughout the Bible.
First Day: 49 times in 47 verses of which in FIVE of these verses we can determine which day is the “Holy Sabbath” that Jesus Himself created back in Creation, even before EDEN was planted, at the very beginning.
Mat_28:1 In the end of the sabbath, [The END of the Seventh Day] as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, [If the first day follows the Seventh Day, then the first day here is Sunday] came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
Mar_16:2 And very early in the morning the first day [Sunday] of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
The phrase in the above verse “the rising of the sun” is significant in that at the time they came to the tomb of Jesus, was the very same time that the Pagan Sun worshippers would be waiting for the rising of the Sun, “SUN WORSHIP” on the SUN DAY!
Mar_16:9 Now when Jesus was risen early [Sunday] the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
The "REAL SON" to worship came to life and presented Himself to His followers, while the pagans worshipped the Sun.
Luk_24:1 Now upon the first day of the week,[Sunday] very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
Joh_20:1 The first day of the week [Sunday] cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, [Before the rising of the Sun] unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
The day before [SUNDAY] is the “Holy Sabbath of the LORD” which is SATURDAY not Sunday.
