Come Out Of Her My People BIBLE STUDY DOCTRINES-F

Study: The Sanctuary
A necessary “salvific” understanding is a saving knowledge.

Psa 77:13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

Purpose: To understand the various aspects of the plan of salvation through the symbolism of the sanctuary
Center It: God is love. Every symbol of the sanctuary pointed directly to Christ.

Exo 25:8 And let them [the Israelites] make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.
[The object was to allow Jesus to “dwell” among His people.]
Exo 29:45 And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.
Exo 29:46 And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.

QUESTION: What was the Sanctuary and what was it used for?
ANSWER: It was a portable wilderness house of worship, called the "Tent of Meeting." It was so, that God could live among His people whom He was guiding through the wilderness. He lives today in the “heart of man”, guiding them through the wilderness of this world, to the REAL promise land, the heavenly Jerusalem.

Because ISRAEL through their apostasy and spiritual fornication rejected Gods leading, He made a change in His original covenant to the people, and He made a change as to who it applied.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

What was ISRAELS sin spoken of here? It was the SIN of REBELLION and UN-BELIEF. They needed to SEE something in order to believe, that’s why they couldn’t believe, they had NO faith in Gods care for them, so God did the opposite of tangible “Tablets of Stone” written by His own finger. He wrote the LAW within the person, in their minds, which is synonymous with the heart.

Mar 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, [We think with our Minds, not our hearts]
Mar 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: [Are ALL acts done after the thought of the ACT]
Mar 7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. [Out of his thinking process, his MIND, which effects the heart and the character]

Psa 77:13 Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
[This means that Gods way of Salvation is shown through the services, and furnishings, and of the ceremonies of the SANCTUARY Service]
Every piece of the Sanctuary tabernacle, including the surrounding linen that made up the court yard pointed to Jesus Christ, and His ministry on behalf of man.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. [And in the Sanctuary which was Gods “Show–n-Tell”, pointed to Jesus and His mediation for man, that brings us to the Father]
Joh 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. [Lambs were used in the sanctuary to symbolize the “LAMB of God” who is Jesus our LORD.]

NOW for the Sanctuarys furniture and what they meant to the Hebrews.
All these articles had a specific meaning for the Hebrews and for Us.

Exo 25:10-40   Exo 26,   Exo 27,   Exo 28

It had an “ARK” which was overlaid with pure gold inside and out, that housed the Ten Commandments, the bowl of Manna and Arrons Rod that budded inside, and the Mosical ceremonial laws were within the “side” of the Ark, and the Shekinah dwelled atop the Crown of the Ark, between TWO covering Cherubs, that faced each other and looked downward at the Mercy Seat, which was the TOP covering to the Ark.
[This was symbolic of the Throne of God]
It had a Menorah, a SEVEN branched solid gold, one piece  lamp, that served to light the Holy Place as it reflected off the walls that were covered in Pure gold
[This was symbolic of Jesus the light of the World]
Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

It had a Table of Shewbread, over laid with pure gold, with a crown that went completely around it’s top. With its vessels of pure gold. Unleavened Bread was to be placed 24/7 upon this table in TWO stacks of six each.
[This was symbolic of Jesus, the Bread from Heaven, the Bread of Life.]
[The TWO stacks of six, BREAD, was symbolic of Bread of Life for the 12 tribes of Israel, as well for Us.]
Joh 6:41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
Joh 6:48 I am that bread of life.
Joh 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
Joh 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

It had an Alter of Incense
[This was symbolic of the “prayers of the Saints” received by Jesus]
Psa 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Rev 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

It had a Curtain or Vail that divided the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place.
[This too was symbolic of Jesus’ MERCY towards His people. Because if the Glory of God broke forth from behind the Vail, it would result in sudden death, so the Vail shielded the Priest as he officiated within the Holy place.]
Exo 26:33 And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches, that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.
Lev 16:2 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

Two compartments made up the tabernacle/sanctuary proper.
[The TWO compartments symbolized both earthly priestly functions, and Heavenly Priestly functions before God.]

It was surrounded by a White Linen Curtain which formed the court yard.
[This was symbolic of the “Righteousness of Jesus Christ”]
Exo 27:9 And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle: for the south side southward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side:

It had within this court yard a Brazen Alter for sacrifice.
[This was symbolic of the CROSS of Christ where the offerings were made.]
Exo 27:1 And thou shalt make an altar of shittim wood, five cubits long, and five cubits broad; the altar shall be foursquare: and the height thereof shall be three cubits.
Exo 27:2 And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof: his horns shall be of the same: and thou shalt overlay it with brass.

It had a Laver that held water for purification purposes.
[This was symbolic of Baptism, a cleansing or a washing.]
Exo 30:18 Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein.
