Come Out Of Her My People BIBLE STUDY DOCTRINES-E

A Bible Time Prophecy
My annotation in “bold blue”

Study: Daniel 9 (Seventy-Week Prophecy, D9)

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to reveal the compelling evidence that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and the embodiment of the covenant promises of God, and to draw attention to an ancient prophecy regarding the arrival of the Messiah, the Savior of the world . . . The topic of this study, the seventy-week prophecy, is part of the larger 2300-day prophecy – which will be discussed in a later Bible study . . .

Careful investigation of this prophecy reveals the ample amount of probationary time given to the nation of Israel to repent and prepare for the first coming of Jesus Christ, which indicates the amazing grace granted by God to His people notwithstanding the severity of their rebellion. Disclaimer: The Jewish nation (the political state of Israel), not the people, were rejected by the Almighty for their rebellion despite their apostasy and rebellion against Him for thousands of years.

Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Mat 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

The 70 week prophecy was written for Gods people, so that they would be affirmed in their proclamation of His arrival that they would “know” EXACTLY when He would arrive. However the religious elite the Pharisees and the Sadducees of that day, being the Sanhedrin, did NOT have a clue of the prophecy of Daniel, even though they claimed to be the teachers of Israel. It just goes to show us, that if we neglect to “study Gods word”, we too will be in the dark as to the working of Gods will for humanity.

Even when the “Magi” who came from the “East”, knew more of the arrival of Jesus than did the religious leaders of the people. The 70 week prophecy is “part-n-part” of a bigger time prophecy that consists of 2300 day/year prophecy. Bible prophecy in certain occasions, has more than one identifier and can overlap from one prophetic occurrence, into another part of the original prophecy with both occurrences taking place within the original prophecy. This is the case with the 70 week prophecy, it’s part of the 2300 day or 2300 year time prophecy. The starting point for both the 2300 day/year prophecy and the 70 week prophecy “both” have the same date for their beginning, but their endings are of different dates.

Dan 8:14 And he [the angel] said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. [The sanctuary here is NOT the Earthly sanctuary or tent of meeting, used by Moses, nor the Temple of Solomon. It was NOT until centuries later did the true understanding of this prophecy revealed to Gods’ people.] The sanctuary here spoken of, is the “Sanctuary that’s located in Heaven.” The cleansing is a symbolic metaphor that eludes to, the beginning of the judgment of Gods people. [Just as in the Day of Atonement during the wilderness wandering.] Once the judgement is completed, then symbolically the cleansing of the Heavenly Sanctuary is said to be completed, as was the tabernacle on the Day of Atonement.

The 2300 day prophecy is to be understood by the application of the formula given by God to the prophet Ezekiel, in Ezekiel 4:6, which gives us the ability to translate the time prophecy. NOTE: that God gives the prophet instructions on how long Israel is to be disciplined. For every day that Ezekiel lay on his side, each day was to be accounted as “one year.”

Eze 4:6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.
It was a 40 year discipline that Judah suffered, in fulfillment of the allotted time.

Num 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. [Emphasis Mine]

The understanding of this 70 week, and the overall 2300 day/year prophecy, could NOT be fully understood until the “time of the end.” That’s the way God wanted it, and until the time of the end this prophecy was “sealed up”, but once the time of the end came, and we are in it right NOW, and have been since Jesus ascended back to Heaven after His crucifixion. You see “time” even if it’s in the thousands of years, is of NO consequence to God, He is NOT bound by time as we are, therefore the time of the END to us, at this time has already consisted of 1984 years, but to God, it’s but a short time. Jesus ascended in 31 A.D. and that’s been 1984 years ago, and we have been in the “time of the end” since that time, therefore the “prophecy” was revealed during the 19th century around 1843-44, another “proof” that we are in the END TIME!

Dan 8:16 And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
Dan 8:17 So he [Gabriel] came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision. [Understood]

Dan 8:26 And the vision of the evening and the morning [a DAY or the 2300 days] which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.
Dan 8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.

This “vision” was NOT to be understood, until many days after Daniels time. In the future it was to be revealed, and NOT until them. When that time came, God would give his people the understanding of this vision, and the details of the prophecy. Daniel was praying for understanding, and his prayer was answered before he finished his prayer.

Dan 9:20 And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin [We are to confess our personal sin] and the sin of my people Israel, [We are to pray for others] and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;
Dan 9:21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, [When the 2300 day prophecy was first given] being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation.
Dan 9:22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
Dan 9:23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

Now we have to look at the “vision” in regards to, its parts. Both the 70 week and the 2300 day prophecy. It has been revealed now in the “end time.”

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks [70 weeks] are determined upon thy people [Israel] and upon thy holy city,[Jerusalem] to finish the transgression, [or to REPENT] and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, [Through Jesus’ Sacrifice] and to seal up [Make it Complete] the vision and prophecy, [To Reveal this Prophecy] and to anoint the most Holy.
Dan 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, [7] and threescore and two weeks: [62]the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. [69 weeks]

Sixty nine weeks would pass from the time announced to “restore and build Jerusalem” until the “Messiah” would appear. So we have to determine when this “start” date occurred, what year was the decree made? Using the formula of a day for a year principle in determining bible prophecy time, 69 weeks would be 69 times seven which would be 483 days or 483 years, from the announcement of the decree until Jesus would be revealed.

Question: So what is the start day of the 70 week prophecy
Answer: The decree was given by the Persian king, Artaxerxes in the year 457 B.C.

The DECREE of Artaxerxes to Ezra the Scribe to return to Jerusalem.

Ezr 7:13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.
Ezr 7:14 Forasmuch as thou art sent of the king, and of his seven counsellors, to enquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thine hand;
Ezr 7:15 And to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors have freely offered unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,
Ezr 7:16 And all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem:
Ezr 7:17 That thou mayest buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem. [Provisions for WORSHIP]
Ezr 7:18 And whatsoever shall seem good to thee, and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.
Ezr 7:19 The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, those deliver thou before the God of Jerusalem.
Ezr 7:20 And whatsoever more shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have occasion to bestow, bestow it out of the king's treasure house.
Ezr 7:21 And I, even I Artaxerxes the king, do make a decree to all the treasurers which are beyond the river, that whatsoever Ezra the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,
Ezr 7:22 Unto an hundred talents of silver, and to an hundred measures of wheat, and to an hundred baths of wine, and to an hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.
Ezr 7:23 Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?
Ezr 7:24 Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.
Ezr 7:25 And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thine hand, set magistrates and judges, which may judge all the people that are beyond the river, all such as know the laws of thy God; and teach ye them that know them not.
Ezr 7:26 And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
Ezr 7:27 Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, which hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem:
Ezr 7:28 And hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened as the hand of the LORD my God was upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.
