Study: The Remnant Church (RC)
My annotations in “bold blue”
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the remnant church, its foundation, and its people. Few Bibles utilize the word “remnant” and prefer “rest” . . . .
Jesus Christ has always been the foundation Rock of God’s church. God’s remnant (end time) church) will also be established on the Rock Jesus Christ with a people who love as Jesus loved. Commandment keeping is the outward manifestation of loving others as Jesus loved.
1Jn 2:4 He [the believer] that saith, I know him, [Jesus] and keepeth not his [Jesus’] commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
Isa 8:20 To the law [the Commandments] and to the testimony: [the Spirit of Prophecy] if they [Christians] speak not according to this word, [the Scripture] it is because there is no light [Understanding] in them.
Rev 19:10 And I [John] fell at his [the Angels] feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. [Or the understanding of, and ability to understand Prophecy. To have the “spirit” willingness to search out the prophecy.]
Gods word is self explaining! If we search for truth, we will find the truth and the truth will set us free, meaning free from deception and error.
Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
If we say we know Jesus and then refuse to believe His word, we are living in self-deception through presumption. We are not following Jesus because we do not know how too. That translates into an ignorance of Gods’ word. We go to church, we play Christianity, we listen to the preacher, and we never check to see if he is a true prophet of God , or if he is just preaching for a living. Most of todays’ church ministers are “futureist”, in their understanding of eschatology and they have a seminary limited understanding of prophecy.
QUESTION: How can we say we walk with Jesus, and fail to follow His teachings?
ANSWER: We cannot! We then are in self-deception through presumption.
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, [Claim to be a Christian] and walk in darkness, [Because we choose too, we fail to obey His teachings] we lie, and do not the truth: [As it is in Christ]
A dispensationalist eschatology, is the belief that the church is going to be “Raptured” up to God, prior to the “time of trouble”, and they will NOT have to go through the seven last plagues. Most Protestant churches today are “Dispensationalist.”
Dispensational: An exemption from a rule or obligation
QUESTION: Did ISRAEL in Egypt go through the plagues that fell on Pharaohs’ Egypt?
ANSWER: They certainly did!
1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1Co 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day [the Second Advent] shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
Heb 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide [Survives the Return of Jesus] which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If we go to church ALL our lives, and we fail to read Gods word for ourselves, we are depending on a “man”, and men make terrible mistakes. We need to seek Jesus as did the apostles once they were called. The “Messiah” was revealed to them through the Old Testament, and they believed, because they knew the word of God. They knew the prophecies of the coming Messiah.
The only bible they had at the time was the Old Testament, for the New had not been written at that time. Most modern day churches teach that the “Old Testament” is a “dead letter”, and that it is another “old dispensation”, that we are NOT under any longer.
However they fail to realize that it was the prophecies of the Old Testament, that sounded the clarion call for the people to expect the arrival of the Messiah, the Enmity of Genesis chapter 3. Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity [the Heralding of Jesus Incarnation] between thee [Satan] and the woman, [the Church] and between thy seed [Satans’ seed or followers] and her [the Churches converts] seed; it [the Enmity who was Jesus] shall bruise thy head, [Perform a Death Blow] and thou [Satan] shalt bruise [Inflict Little Harm] his [Jesus’] heel. [or Path]
It was from the beginning that God told us that His church would be the “Apple of His Eye” from beginning to the very end. His complete WORD will also last from the Beginning to the end. NONE of Gods word is “irrelevant”, NONE! Both the Old and the New Testaments are the “Two Witnesses” spoken of in Revelation 11:3. They BOTH witness to Jesus’ pre-incarnate existence and appearances, and His incarnation and life, death, resurrection and ascension on Earth.
Zec 2:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; [Who said it? The Lord of Host] After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you [Gods People i.e the Church] toucheth the apple of his eye.
Rev 11:3 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, [Both the Old and New Testaments] and they shall prophesy [or Preach in other words] a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. [While under mourning ] This took place during the persecution of the Great Tribulation. Gods’ people went through during the “Dark Ages” from 538 A.D. to 1798 A.D. a period of 1260 years. Using the instruction given in Eze 4:6 and Num 14:34
538 A.D. then add 1260 years brings you to the year 1798 A.D. the exact year that Frances Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte defeated ROME and sent, the then sitting pope into exile, thus ending the 1260 years of persecution of both Gods’ word and His people. During this time the “Two Witnesses”, the Old and New Testaments we still prophesying, but in hiding so to speak, in sackcloth because of the Great Persecution that was being perpetrated by the Inquisition.
There would come a time after the Great Tribulation of the “Dark Ages”, that the scripture would again take first place in humanity. It was called the “Great Awakening.” A time when once again Gods’ people, and His word would take first place once again.
The term Great Awakening can refer to several periods of religious revival in American religious history. Historians and theologians identify three or four waves of increased religious enthusiasm occurring between the early 18th century and the late 19th century. Each of these "Great Awakenings" were characterized by widespread revivals led by evangelical Protestant ministers, a sharp increase of interest in religion, a profound sense of conviction and redemption on the part of those affected, an increase in evangelical church membership, and the formation of new religious movements and denominations.
God has always had a true “remnant people” throughout human history. Israel’s’ apostasy time after time always had a “remnant” people who did not bow down to paganism or apostate teachings. When Elijah was confronted with Jezebels apostate leadership of Israel under King Ahab, even though Ahab was the king, Jezebel ran the show. She was the one who threatened Elijah’s death that sent him into the wilderness. But God was with him and sent him food by the ravens. Elijah cried out to God because he felt that ALL Israel had left God and apostatized against Him.
Elijah’s Lament:
1Ki_19:10 And he [Elijah] said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they [the Apostate Israelites, specifically Jezebel] seek my life, to take it away. 1Ki_19:14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

Gods Assurance:
1Ki 19:18 Yet I [YHWH] have left me seven thousand in Israel, [the Remnant] all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

Rom_11:4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
NOT every denomination of church is going to be saved, however there will be some from every denomination saved, IF and only IF they are living up to the “Light They Have.” If a greater “light or understanding”, comes to their knowledge and they fail to live up to its standard, then there will be NO hope for that one who has spurned the living God.
Heb 10:29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
Heb 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
John 10:16: God has people in other folds (multiple religions, denominations, or congregations) that are to hear His voice calling them to join together in the one fold and follow the one shepherd Jesus Christ. Note: Some Seventh-day Adventists have advocated the removal of the word “remnant” from the English vernacular because this is considered to be religiopolitically incorrect – but this is clearly not God’s will because He has a remnant that keeps His testimony.
The word “Remnant” is used 92 times in 91 verses in the scripture, signifying that ALL throughout Gods word, after ALL the apostasy, and spiritual fornication of ancient Israel. God has always had a small remnant of followers that knew His will and followed it to the best of their ability. Below are just a few with my annotations inserted in bold blue.
Gods last day church will be following the “apostolic teachings” that Jesus taught them. If you really want to know, YOU CAN KNOW. Jesus is the Creator of ALL things. Jesus made the seventh day of worship called the “Sabbath”, Jesus kept the day He made while here on earth. Jesus then “set the example” for us to follow. The TRUE “end time church” will be walking in His footsteps as it pertains to Bible doctrine, NOT church dogma.
Luk 4:16 And he [Jesus] came to Nazareth, [Which was His Hometown] where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he [Jesus] went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, [the Seventh Day of the week was His habit or custom for worship] and stood up for to read.
Why shouldn’t it be so, He made the day Himself, specifically for communion with His creation called “Adama” or “ManKind.”
The TRUE end time church of God, called the “Remnant” in scripture will be making every “effort” to keep ALL Gods Commandments, and have a ministry of Prophecy.
ISAIAH SAYS:
Isa_1:9 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. [Isaiah is saying that by Gods grace at the overthrow of Israel, there will be a “small remnant”, that will escape destruction. Likewise as we have already learned “Literal Israel” was rejected by Jesus the day He entered it on that last Passover He shared before His crucifixion, when He spoke:
Luk 13:34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!
Luk 13:35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Likewise NOW “Spiritual Israel” will have a small “Remnant”, who will be striving to follow ALL of Gods council, as it is written, NOT as it is preached today in mainline Protestantism.
2Ki_19:31 For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this. [God has always had a remnant in which He watches over zealously, and always will. In this case it was those Jews who escaped the destruction of Jerusalem.]
Isa_10:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; [In other words THEIR enemies] but shall stay [Or RELY UPON] upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
[God here is using the vernacular of the time in the phrase “stay upon him”, TODAY we would use the phrase, “Trust upon him.” Given this context God is telling us NOT to trust in man, but on His Word ALONE in TRUTH. Israel had forgotton Gods word and had relied upon man, and it lead to the death of many.]
Isa_10:21 The remnant shall return, [RETURN indicated ABANDONMENT] even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. [The MAJORITY will be LOST, unfortunately, and it’s sad, but TRUE.]
Isa_10:22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: [To obedience to Gods Word] the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
Isa_11:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. [From the Earth over, spiritual Israel]
Isa_11:16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, [Left in Judah] which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel [Indicates that these Remnant people are NOT of Israel, but of Judah] in the day that he [Literal Israel before the seperation] came up out of the land of Egypt.
Isa_37:31 And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward: [Will once again Worship God, and NOT Idols] continued next page:
